These updated rules are mostly a rewriting of previous forum rules. The vast majority of the ENSL users or frequent forum users should have no problem following these simple guidelines. I would like to thank Fana for his previous posts, as they should allow me not to write a lot :-)

Most of the rules can be summed up in four words: Don't be a jerk.

As a general rule, the forums, the competitions and the IRC channel are kept separate. If you are banned from the forums, you will not be banned from participating in the league. Very serious infractions (such as posting child pornography, cheating) may lead to bans from the entire ENSL network.

General conduct

[*]Each forum pretty much makes it clear from its name and description what is acceptable in there or not. Be sure you have the appropriate forum before posting. If there is no forum dedicated to the topic you wish to discuss, use General discussion. Additionally, please check to see if your post is a redux (it has already been posted before by another forum member) using the search function.

[*]Before you post: Please ask yourself the following question: "Am I making a post that is funny, informative, or interesting on any level?"

[*]-> If you can answer "yes" to this, then please post. If you cannot, then refrain from posting. If you post anyway, you only have yourself to blame for the consequences.

[*]Before you reply: Please ask yourself the following question: "Does my reply offer any significant advice or help contribute to the conversation in any fashion?"

[*]-> If you can answer "yes" to this, then please reply. If you cannot, then refrain from replying.

Rules

[*]English only: Posts and signatures in other languages than English are not allowed. A tolerance is given for teams who want to recruit people who speak the same language. However please have the decency to translate your original post in English.

[*]Low content posts: Please do not make posts containing no content ("first post," "hello, I'm new here," etc.). These just litter up the forums. Replies consisting solely of trolling fall into this category. As a general rule, write as if you were speaking in real life to another human being.

[*]Worthless posts: Please do not post crap asking us to vote for you on some website, give you referrals for free iPods / flat screens / spare tires, or any other semi-spam things.

[*]Forum fuckery: Don't fuck up the forums or any user on the forums. If you post a malicious link (any URL with spyware or code designed to annoy people) you will be banned.

[*]Flamewars: Excessive personal attacks are not allowed. Forum members are expected to keep discussions civil at all times, within reasonable limits. Calling someone who disagrees with you a retard may be acceptable depending on the circumstances, but this is entirely up to the judgement of the admin or mod reading your post. You have been warned.

[*]Respect the admins and mods: The admins and moderators are here to keep the forums safe, sane, and secure. If they ask you to do something, please do it. Please do not harass or intentionally annoy the mods. If you do not like the mods or the moderation, feel free to not post here.

[*]I hate speech: Offensive terms such as "faggot" or "nigger" may or may not be bannable based on context of the sentence. If they were meant as humor with absolutely no offensive slurs meant, the user may or may not be punished. This rule is completely, 100% subjective and is based on the moderator reading the post at the time. Use at your own peril.

[*]Back seat modding: Please don't. The forum moderators are perfectly capable of reading the forums themselves. Notify us on IRC if you see something that needs moderator attention.

[*]Work safe: Do not post porn or other offensive images. Try to keep all posts safe for reading at work. NSFW (Not Safe For Work) threads should have a [NSFW] tag in the headline. Do not post NSFW content in threads that do not already have a [NSFW] tag. Do not post any illegal (child porn, bestiality) images or else you will be banned from the entire ENSL network.

[*]Warez: No warez, no cracks, no CD codes, no illegal programs that are used to either crack software or perform any malicious activity. Don't post links, ask for links to download, or otherwise discuss illegal copies of copyrighted works, including movies, books, software, etc. 45-second "sampler" mp3 files are acceptable, within context. ROMs are only allowed if they are out-of-print and unavailable for purchase. But keep in mind this is a Natural Selection / Natural Selection 2 community.

[*]Signatures: Keep in mind that everybody on the forums has to see your signature file over and over every time you post. Please make your sig file under 30k in size with less than three lines of text. Do not use images larger than 500 pixels wide and 125 pixels high.

[*]Ban baiting: Attempts at trolling for a ban will be rewarded as asked.

[*]Admin discretion: These rules are general guidelines and are very flexible. If you try to circumvent them or generally act like a douche bag, your forum access will be removed.

Consequences for breaking the rules

[*]Posts with content that are in violation of the rules, will be deleted in their entirety. Further consequences may range from temporary to permanent bans, depending on what rule was broken, how it was broken and how frequently it was broken.

[*]Repeat offenders that show no interest in learning the rules, or are clearly breaking the rules on purpose, will be awarded with a permanent ban.

[*]Banned users still have access to the ban appeals forum. Abuse of this privilege will result in permanent bans and removal of ban appeals forum access.

[*]Do not try to circumvent a ban by registering a new account. This will lead to permanent bans on both your old and new accounts.

I don't agree with a moderation decision!

If you would like to inquire about a moderator decision, we welcome any questions in the feedback forum. Please be civil, explain your point, and detail your opinion on it. If you would prefer not to make it public, contact one of admins found here
